ReelChanges.org is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, hereafter referred to by its official legal name, the Center for Media Change, Inc., whose mission is to facilitate public microfinancing of quality-screened documentary projects. By clicking on the accept button below users of this website acknowledge, accept and agree to the following terms and conditions:

Filmmakers are permitted to upload descriptive materials about their projects, including but not limited to video trailers, pictures, text, images and sound, only if those materials are fully cleared in terms of copyright, royalty and other issues related to ownership of intellectual property. By submitting material(s) to the Center for Media Change you certify that all materials contained in the submission do not infringe on the rights of any other party, including corporate or business entities, and that you will bear the full costs of defending, indemnifying and holding harmless the Center of Media Change, Inc. financially and legally in the event claims are brought related to any materials you upload.

By submitting your materials to the Center for Media Change, Inc. you grant the Center for Media Change, Inc. the right to stream your video in either public or private mode, according to the selection made when uploading your project. You grant no other right in your video or associated intellectual property to the Center for Media Change, Inc. You also grant the Center for Media Change, Inc. the right to accept tax-deductible contributions on your behalf if your project is accepted for posting on the reelchanges.org website. The Center for Media Change, Inc. will solicit, receive and forward financial contributions to your project in accordance with the specific procedures outlined in the document Guidelines for Filmmakers that appears on the site. By submitting your video you acknowledge that ReelChanges.org is a new venture with still-developing technology and agree to hold the Center for Media Change harmless in the event of any technical issues that result in any problems viewing your uploaded video or project description or in processing donations, including site breakdowns or malfunctions.

Donations to specific film projects accepted by the Center for Media Change, Inc. will be processed in accordance with the procedures described in the document Guidelines for Filmmakers that appears on the reelchanges.org website. The Center for Media Change, Inc. will pass through 100 percent of all donations received through the reelchanges.org website to the intended recipient project for any projects posted and accepted by reelchanges before December 31, 2008, less documented transaction fees imposed by any third-party intermediaries, such as a credit card processing firm.

The Center for Media Change, Inc. makes no warranty or guarantee of performance on behalf of the filmmakers whose projects are promoted on this site. Donations made and incentives offered in exchange for donations are not binding on the Center for Media Change, Inc. and instead represent a no-recourse agreement between the donor(s) and the project(s) they are supporting. The ReelChanges.org editorial team makes every reasonable effort it can to ensure that only serious and clearly described projects with a high likelihood of completion appear on the ReelChanges.org website. ReelChanges.org offers no warranty or guarantee to donors related to the completion of any film or project.

Donors furthermore acknowledge that documentary filmmaking and the practice of journalism may not adhere to exact production schedules defined in project descriptions and that on some occasions projects may change in scope or direction while underway. ReelChanges will not make any refunds of donations to donors for any reason other than inaccurately entered donation amounts or recipients, which must be reported within five business days of the donation to qualify for a refund. Filmmakers are encouraged, when practical, to offer completion bonding insurance as and if available from third-party sources. Donors agree to hold the Center for Media Change, Inc. harmless in the event of a failure to perform on the part of any filmmaker.

ReelChanges.org complies fully with the DMCA. If copyright owners identify infringing activities concerning their copyrighted work, they or their agents should please contact: [email protected]

The DMCA specifies that all infringement claims must be in writing (either electronic mail or paper letter) and must include the following elements:

  • A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act as an agent of the copyright holder;
  • Identification of the infringed work;
  • Identification of the infringed material;
  • Contact information for the complainant, e.g. address, telephone number, electronic mail address;
  • A statement that the complaining party has a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner or the law; and

Upon receipt of the information required above ReelChanges.org will take all necessary appropriate action, including removal of any material posted in violation of the DMCA.

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.

We use non-identifying and aggregate information to better design our website and potentially at some point in the future to share with advertisers. For example, we may tell an advertiser that X number of individuals visited a certain area on our website, or that Y number of men and Z number of women filled out our registration form, but we would not disclose anything that could be used to identify those specific individuals to any third party.

Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.
